October 2021 Derek, the new owner of Teddy, lost his rescue springer and wanted to give another furbaby a chance for a wonderful life. This is his and Teddy’s story.

In December 2021 I contacted SAR about wanting to give Teddy a forever home even though this little ball of fur had so many issues.  Not liking people, disliked affection, guarding, disliked direct eye contact aggression towards the hoover, not good mixing with other dogs and hopeless recall once his nose hit the ground just to say these were just a few of his issues.  I knew I needed to give this troubled boy a chance. After conversations with Kerry the behavioural support staff and Babs I went to collect Teddy from Essex.

I arrived at the kennels and went into the paddock where the kennel assistant brought Teddy into the paddock. At that point I ignored him and sat on the ground after a few minutes he cane and sat between my legs. I can’t repeat what the kennel assistant said but she said I can’t believe that can I take a photo as no one would believe her.  That was the start of the journey.  He got into my car and came home.  Month 1  a few moments where he tried to push boundaries showing some behaviours but nothing serious to report. Month 2 he was so settled he was demanding affection month 3 not one of his negative behaviours displayed.

Can you offer one of our dogs a home?

We are looking for foster families and adoptive families.

A home check will be required, along with an adoption donation of between £200 to £500 which helps to contribute to kennel fees, vaccinations, microchipping, spay/neutering, flea/worming treatment and other veterinary costs. This adoption fee will contribute to the care of all our dogs.  Your case handler will advise the cost of each dog
