When Jimmy first came into rescue, he was known as Grimm – a young, bright, high-energy Sprocker who had already experienced more upheaval in his short life than any dog should. Born in September 2024, Jimmy was originally taken in by an elderly man living in sheltered accommodation, where his needs simply couldn’t be met. Concerned for his welfare, a kind visitor stepped in to help and rehomed him, determined to give him the active, enriched life he deserved.
However, despite being deeply loved and well cared for, it soon became clear that Jimmy’s strong chasing instincts made life in a home with cats extremely difficult. He wasn’t aggressive – in fact, he had no history of growling or biting and adored people – but his desire to chase and play caused increasing stress within the household. For everyone’s wellbeing, another heartbreaking but responsible decision had to be made: Jimmy needed a cat-free, active home where he could truly thrive.

And then… those people found him
From the moment we met him, Jimmy showed exactly who he was – clever, hilarious, loving, and completely bonkers in the very best Sprocker way. This was a dog with energy to burn, brains to engage, and a huge heart just waiting for the right people to keep up with him.Now known as Jimmy, he has landed exactly where he belongs. His new family quickly discovered his joyful, larger-than-life personality – from his impressive vertical jumping skills (shoulder height, no less!) to his talent for emptying a laundry basket from the inside out. He loves running, long walks, and exploring, recently tackling the Malvern Hills with enthusiasm and gusto.
Jimmy has embraced life with canine friends too, happily running alongside a lively group that includes spaniels, a cockapoo, and a labrador – with a particular soft spot for Daisy the cockapoo. At home, he’s built a lovely bond with resident dog Milo, often found snuggled up together after a busy day.
People remain his absolute favourite thing. He’s full of excitement around the children, adores extra cuddles when the eldest comes home from university, and fills the house with laughter, chaos, and affection in equal measure. Training is very much underway – recall is improving nicely, unless a pheasant happens to be involved – but his family are committed, patient, and enjoying every step of the journey with him.
“He is such a funny boy with a lovely personality. He’s sweet, loving, completely bonkers… and we already can’t imagine not having him here. We feel blessed.”
Jimmy’s story is a perfect reminder that sometimes a dog isn’t in the wrong home because they are “too much” – they’re just waiting for a life big enough to match them. With space to run, friends to play with, structure to learn, and people who adore him for exactly who he is, Jimmy is finally living the life he was always meant to have.
Happy new beginning, Jimmy. We couldn’t be happier for you.
