Hugo is a black and white, 7-year-old, little dog. He was showing aggression in his previous home but has spent some time with our friends at Waggy Tail Farm and is now ready for his new family

Age: 7

Can I be rehomed with other dogs? Yes, calm ones

Can I be rehomed with cats? No

Can we be rehomed with children? Over 16 only

Neutered: Yes

A quiet rural home where there is little traffic, as Hugo doesn’t like loud noises and can be nervous around traffic.  Hugo needs to get out and be a sprocker.  He is a nervy little dog and would be best suited to someone who is around most of the time.  Hugo needs someone who will put in the time and effort (with the help of our behaviourist) to overcome his fears and possessiveness and show him that the world isn’t really a scary place. He needs somone confident and experienced with spaniels

Hugo came to us from a family where he didn’t like being around the small children and would be snappy when approached. He is a loving dog and enjoys his walks and treats, but he gets attached to one person quite quickly, so a single adult home would be ideal. Hugo needs an experienced, quiet, adult-only home with someone around most of the time, although he is used to being left for short periods. He has lived with another, older dog but does like to try and steal her food on occasion, so meal times would need to be monitored. Hugo needs someone with patience and understanding to help him through his issues and enable him to live his best life. He has come on in leaps and bounds whilst with his friends at Waggy Tail Farm and they have said he’s a great little dog and would make someone a fantastic companion.

Hugo does pull on his lead when out, but when assessed, it was felt that this was just because his owner isn’t able to give him the time he needs out and about.  Because he lives in an urban area, there are few places for Hugo to stop, have a good sniff, and do the things that Sprockers do.

He does need some help with his recall; this isn’t very good at the moment, and though he will sit, he forgets to stay!

Hugo will also need some help with his grooming, as he has developed a fear of being clipped.  We feel that muzzle training would be beneficial.

Hugo is crate-trained and on a raw food diet

Hugo has lived with another dog but we feel he would be best suited as the only dog in the house initially to build up his confidence

Help us find Hugo a home!

Can you offer one of our dogs a home?

We are looking for foster families and adoptive families.

A home check will be required, along with an adoption donation of between £200 to £500 which helps to contribute to kennel fees, vaccinations, microchipping, spay/neutering, flea/worming treatment and other veterinary costs. This adoption fee will contribute to the care of all our dogs.  Your case handler will advise the cost of each dog

Please have a read of our adoption process  so you can prepare for how we will work with you and the possible dog. We also offer help and support for you both in the future with our behaviourists, Lisa & Amanda
