I never quite understood why I was feeling so restless, why my paws itched for longer walks, or why sometimes, when I had my food, I felt the need to guard it so fiercely. My old human loved me, but things had changed. They weren’t well, and I could sense it. Walks became shorter, and the energy in our home felt different. I was confused, and one day, in a moment of worry, I snapped when they came near my bowl. I didn’t mean to hurt them—I just wasn’t sure what else to do. But afterward, I would go back to being my usual, friendly self, not understanding why things weren’t quite right.

Then, one day, everything changed. I was taken on a journey to a new home, with new humans. It felt strange at first, but they understood me. They knew I had energy to burn, and they made sure I had all the exercise I needed. It turned out I had a whole team of people looking out for me—neighbours who didn’t have dogs of their own but loved taking me for long runs in the fields, letting me stretch my legs until I was finally, wonderfully tired.
Even when my new human had an accident and couldn’t walk me for a while, they made sure I was cared for. I still got out for hours, racing across the fields, feeling the wind in my fur, my heart pounding with joy. I wasn’t just existing anymore—I was truly living.
I’m Gunner, and thanks to Sprocker Assist & Rescue, I have a second chance at happiness. I may have had a rocky start, but now, I am exactly where I am meant to be.
Can you offer one of our dogs a home?
We are looking for foster families and adoptive families.
A home check will be required, along with an adoption donation of between £200 to £500 which helps to contribute to kennel fees, vaccinations, microchipping, spay/neutering, flea/worming treatment and other veterinary costs. This adoption fee will contribute to the care of all our dogs. Your case handler will advise the cost of each dog
Please have a read of our adoption process so you can prepare for how we will work with you and the possible dog. We also offer help and support for you both in the future with our behaviourists.
