What is the adoption process?

Apply via our Adoption form, complete a home check, meet the dog and, if successful, complete adoption paperwork. We provide post-adoption support for life.

What do you look for in an adopter?

We look for committed, suitable homes that can meet a Sprocker’s exercise, training and social needs. Every application is considered case-by-case to ensure the best match.

Are there fees to adopt?

Yes — adoption contributions help cover veterinary care, vaccinations and rehabilitation. Exact fees vary by dog; contact us for current details.

Do you provide help after adoption?

Yes — lifetime support including behaviour advice, training resources and access to our owner community and behaviour team.

What does fostering involve?

Fostering provides temporary care for a rescue Sprocker in your home. Fosterers provide day-to-day care, socialisation and assessment while we find a permanent home. Full support provided.

How long does a foster placement usually last?

Placements vary — from a few weeks to several months — depending on the dog’s needs and how quickly we find the right adopter.

Can I foster if I work full-time?

Yes — many fosterers work full-time. We match dogs to homes based on routines and can offer extra support such as day care, training or transport when needed.

What is the 3-3-3 rule for rescue dogs?

The 3-3-3 rule describes common phases after rehoming: 3 days of shock, 3 weeks of settling in, and 3 months to fully decompress and show their true personality. We provide guidance for each stage.

Fabulous charity I first found them when I was looking and whilst many rescues wouldn't give me a dog Sar would. They matched the dog with me rather than ticking boxes. Along came Ruby and as a result I wanted to give back I now volunteer for them When Ruby passed I took on Poppy who is a handful ! A fabulous charity and amazing dogs !!

Sprocker Assist have been my families saviour! We lost both our beautiful springer spaniels within a year of eachother and I signed up to adopt on their website, I received a call from a lovely lady a few weeks later asking if I would be interested in fostering a gorgeous little sprocker called Daisy, it was a bit of an emergency situation but they reassured me there was no pressure at all, but they had read my application and thought I might be a suitable foster for her. She arrived 2 days later after I had been homechecked by a lovely couple in my area. She was quite shut down and terrified of everything and everyone! As you would expect of a dog that had been through 3 different homes in as many weeks through no fault of her own. That first weekend was a roller coaster for all of us... but I can honestly say the sight of her coming out of herself, learning to trust us and show us her personality and who she is has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.... Daisy is now a part of our family, as we decided on about day 4 of an 8 weeek initial foster period that we wanted to adopt her...the house is a home again full of , tip tapping of paws ( and missing socks). We are so grateful Sprocker Assist gave us the chance to give Daisy the life she deserves . They are amazing, we had so much support and there was always someone available to talk to about any issues or worries . I cannot express enough how important I now believe it is to adopt not buy when you are looking for a canine companion to share your life with. When I think what might have happened to Daisy if she hadn't been taken in by Sprocker Assist it makes me cry, she now lives a great life, full of woodland walks, swims in the sea nearly every day and is the whole families pride and joy thanks to them and we will be forever grateful 🙏

We had such a positive experience with Sprocker Assist and Rescue and couldn’t recommend them highly enough. At first, I have to admit I did not fully understand why the team were so particular about finding the “perfect match”. At the time, I found some of the process a little frustrating, but having now been through it, I completely understand and really appreciate what they do. They genuinely take the time to understand each dogs needs, personality and circumstances, and make sure the match is what will work best for the dog, not simply what the adopter wants. Looking back, I can see that they absolutely got it right, and that care makes such a difference. The whole home vetting process was smooth and straightforward, and we felt supported throughout. The team provided us with lots of helpful information and blogs about introducing a new dog into a home with an existing dog, which was incredibly useful and helped us feel prepared and confident. Everyone we dealt with was so supportive, knowledgeable and genuinely caring. You can see that the welfare and happiness of the dogs is at the heart of everything they do. Thank you to everyone at Sprocker Assist and Rescue for all your help, guidance and support. We are so grateful for the care you put into finding the right homes and, most importantly, the right matches for these dogs. ❤️🐾

We have had two wonderful Sprockers from them and one foster found them helpful throughout the process

SAR is a fantastic organisation, they were 1st class in pairing me and my wife with Daisy a 4 year old black sprocker spaniel on a foster with a view to adopt basis. The process was painless and SAR supported us at every step of the way with invaluable advise and guidance. The pairing of the family with Daisy was a magic match and we adopted her well before the end of the foster period ended. Daisy has been a central part of our life for nearly the last 4 years and we are grateful for her being brought in to our life. We whole heartedly recommend SAR as an organisation and the people who work tirelessly to make sure all of the dogs which come to them are appropriately placed with the dogs best interests in mind.

SAR were amazing when we needed help rehoming one of our dogs. We'd exhausted all other options and were at our wits end - SAR stepped in and handled everything. They were sensitive & professional throughout.

When we had to urgently rehome a family Members dog, sprocker assist really did come to the rescue. They were absolutely incredible, the process was transparent, they were helpful, knowledgeable and I was just utterly astounded at the care, love and support they showed the dog, who was or would have likely been classed as aggressive, and to us, the people who pulled him from that place. He’s moved on, had a failed foster (the most amazing thing) and is living the life he should have always been. Absolutely cannot thank you guys enough for helping us to get him out of where he was and giving him the support, and to his new family, thank you so much, you really do not know what it means to us for us to see him thrive from where he was. Incredible through and through ❤️
